Rex Insurance hosted members of the Actuarial Science and Insurance Student Association (ASISA) from the University of Lagos, an insightful industry visit aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and practical experience in the insurance sector.
The visit, held at Rex Head Office on Thursday, 21 May 2026, provided students with the opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the operations of the insurance industry while interacting with experienced professionals across key technical areas.
Students were taken through engaging technical sessions with introduction to underwriting processes, the critical role underwriting plays in risk assessment and policy issuance. An engaging digital session exploring how Information Technology (I.T.) is transforming the insurance industry, highlighting innovations in the digital claims processing, data analytics, artificial intelligence and customer-centric insurance solutions. Practical knowledge was also shared on claims management processes and technical risk assessment, emphasizing the importance of trust, efficiency and customer experience in claims settlement.
The interactive Q&A session that followed allowed students to engage directly with the speakers, ask career-related questions, and gain valuable industry perspectives from seasoned professionals. Speaking on the visit, the student representative Lawrence Ige expressed appreciation to Rex Insurance for the warm reception and the opportunity to gain practical industry exposure beyond the classroom.
