A strong sense of unity and collaboration within the Nigerian insurance industry was clearly demonstrated during a pre-investiture courtesy visit by the Managing Director of Rex Insurance and incoming Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), Mrs Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu to the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB).
Received by the President of NCRIB, Mrs. Ekeoma Ezeibe, and the Executive Secretary, Mr. Tope Adaramola, the visit highlighted the need for synergy among key industry players and their collective commitment to strengthening the insurance sector.
The visit also underscored the industry’s shared commitment to strengthening partnerships, fostering mutual support, and advancing the collective growth of Nigeria’s insurance sector.
The message from the meeting was straightforward: meaningful growth requires collaboration across the entire sector. Mrs. Ezeibe emphasized the need for a “deliberate handshake” between underwriters and brokers to deepen insurance penetration and strengthen the entire industry – this is the focus of he tenure as the President of the NCRIB – ONE INSURANCE.
The engagement also provided an opportunity to discuss key issues shaping the future of the insurance industry. An important segment of the conversation was the implementation of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA), the role of technology in driving industry transformation, strategies for increasing insurance penetration and contribution to national economic growth, as well as the need to intentionally develop and mentor emerging professionals in the insurance industry.
The NCRIB President also reaffirmed the Council’e commitment to promoting professionalism, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and sustaining productive relationships with regulators.
Looking ahead, the incoming NIA Chairman, Mrs Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu identified capacity building and the optimization of technical structures as important areas of focus in advancing the collective objectives of the industry.
The visit not only strengthened the relationship between both bodies but also reflected a shared determination to work together in driving innovation and growth across the Nigerian insurance industry.
