Richard Hardy

Mr. Richard Hardy is an Investment Director at BlueOrchard Finance, a leading global impact investor headquartered in Zurich, where he leads the firm's private equity investments across Africa. With close to two decades of experience in private equity, Mr. Hardy has a proven track record across the entire investment value chain. Prior to joining BlueOrchard, he was a Principal at Ethos Private Equity in Johannesburg, widely regarded as South Africa's most experienced private equity firm. At Ethos, he was instrumental in executing, managing, and successfully exiting major investments across Sub-Saharan Africa. Mr. Hardy specializes in identifying high-growth opportunities, leading complex transactions and driving value creation through active board roles and strategic governance. His current focus is on channeling capital into innovative companies that generate strong financial returns alongside positive social and environmental impact. Mr. Hardy holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Commerce in Actuarial Science from the University of Stellenbosch. He was appointed on the Board of Rex Insurance Ltd on August 18, 2025.
